Shellac nail polish is a long-lasting polish that can go on acrylic, artificial nails or the natural nail that gives off a fresh shiny look. This type of polish can last up to 4 weeks with minimal chipping and is healthier for the natural nail compared to an acrylic nail which leaves the natural nail thin and flakey. Shellac is also used as a barrier or primer coat on wood to prevent the bleeding of resin or pigments into the final finish, or to prevent wood stain from blotching.
Traditionally, nail polish started in clear, red , pink , purple , and black. Nail polish can be found in a diverse variety of colors and shades. Beyond solid colors, nail polish has also developed an array of other designs, such as crackled, glitter, flake, speckled, iridescent, and holographic.

French manicures were one of the first popular and well known color schemes. French manicures may have originated in the eighteenth-century in Paris but were most popular in the s and s.
One updated trend involves painting different colors as the tips of the nails instead of the basic white. French tip nails can be made with stickers, stencils, or with a basic toothpick. Social media has given rise to the nail art culture that allows users to share their pictures about their nail art. Nail polish in the Western world has traditionally been worn by women, going in and out of acceptability depending upon moral customs of the day.
In Victorian era culture it was generally considered improper for women to adorn themselves with either makeup or nail coloring, since natural appearances were considered more chaste and pure. In the s, however, women left corsets and long gowns behind, changed to simple loose-fitting dresses, and began to wear color in new makeups and nail products, partly in rebellion to such prim customs of their recent past. Since the s, nail colors progressed from French manicures and standard reds to various palettes of color choices, usually coordinated with the fashion industry's clothing colors for the season.
By the 's the whole nail is finally painted as before it was fashionable to have the tips bare and half-moon on the nail bed. Men have begun to wear clear polish on their nails to protect them from breakage, and as recorded from , a few men have also started to wear colored nail polish on their toenails, and some even on their hands, possibly arising from its use by rock music musicians or in Goth subculture.
While pastel colors such as pink are not typically worn by men, colors such as black, gun metal, silver, olive green, or brown are more often seen. This is especially true in warm climate areas where open-toed shoes are worn and can mask damaged or disfigured nails. There are 15 principal nail polish finishes: Nail polish remover is an organic solvent that may also include oils, scents, and coloring. Nail polish remover packages may include individual felt pads soaked in remover, a bottle of liquid remover used with a cotton ball or cotton pad , or a container filled with foam into which one inserts a finger and twists it until the polish comes off.
Choosing a type of remover is determined by the user's preference, and often the price or quality of the remover. If you want to wear … your to-die-for Neon green shirt but your nails dont match its a bummer, so wearing these colours will match up better then a soft pink.

Customer reviews frequently mention nails brushes brush designs thin polishes bottles variety paint thick bottle bright dry opened vibrant glitter packaged coat packaging dried. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. For the price, the minor quibbles most people mention are not a problem for me at all - a few of the brushes needed the tips trimmed off because they were uneven, a few of the colors are transparent and need more coats or to be used for stained-window-like effects Instead of posting nail art, I'm posting pics of swatches.
These swatches are on clear plastic with a piece of white paper held behind them. The first three are in indirect sunlight and the second three in direct sunlight. Each color was given two coats. Some of the colors are more transparent than others, and need to have a solid light color polish base underneath them. The pearl colors are very opaque. They came packaged very nicely and neat! No broken bottles or leaky bottles! I shakes every color and opened them they all were identical in consistency and were smooth!!
I am more than satisfied! I'm just curious it says "Nail Art Set 1" are there other sets? If so I want them too! The colors are great and the variety is pretty amazing. The quality of the polish is not bad.
The polish is pretty thin but that makes them a great top coat if you're using nail repair polishes as a base coat or using them to decorate already painted nails helps to not make them super bulky with the adding of layers. The brushes need improvement, I've run into a stray hair getting stuck on my nail a few times already. Overall for the color variety, this collection is a pretty good deal. They are so easy to work with I absolutely love these. They are so easy to work with and come in all sorts of wonderful beautiful colors too.
I didn't buy this exact listing as I bought them on eBay not amazon. Those are the same design that I bought though. I was not really too impressed with those one as half the dotting tools didn't work and the other half of the long skinny brushes were bent in a weird way so you could not get a nice swoop with the line or the brush was split so it looked like two brushes.
Any who I have not had any of those issues with this one. These are wonderful and work very well and are super easy to use.
I highly recommend these. I love this set. The colors are beautiful and the little brushes are great for fine lines. I wish my left hand were a little steadier so I could do designs on my right hand that look as good as those on the left. Then I could get really creative. I was sorry to note that something was wrong with one of the paints when I received it. I wanted to return the little one for a replacement, but instead the company just returned my money and let me keep the rest.
I felt a little guilty, since the rest of the set is very nice. Anyhow, the colors are great and customer service was superb. One person found this helpful. I would recommend this product to other
